Update on the A529 Road Closure

Essential carriageway resurfacing work that is programmed to take place throughout August 2016 on the A529 north of Adderley, curtailing at the Shropshire County Boundary.

The work will involve the laying of 5,300 tonnes of surfacing materials to provide structural and geometric improvements and the renewal of the failed highway drainage system. Repairs to a damaged bridge parapet will also be undertaken.

Due to the width and alignment of the road, it will need to be closed to traffic while work is carried out.

As a result, the road will be closed from Monday 25 July to Wednesday 31 August and signed diversions will be in place.

As work in taking place during the school holidays the road closures and diversions will be restricted to the hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.  This will ensure that:

·         School runs aren’t affected because the schools are on holiday.

·         Commuters travelling before 9am and after 5pm Monday to Friday will not be adversely affected.

·         The road will be open at the weekend, evenings and early morning.

We appreciate that this work will cause some disruption to local residents and businesses, but we hope you will bear with us while this important work is carried out, as it will which lead to significant improvements for residents, businesses and road users.

A signed diversion route will be in place while the road is closed.

Information about the work, including diversion routes, can be found on a dedicated webpage at www.shropshire.gov.uk/roadworks. Updates will be added to this page throughout the work to keep people informed of progress.
